Wine, the drink of the gods, has always been known for its health benefits when consumed in moderation. It is not harmful—quite the opposite!
However, excessive wine consumption is not only linked to less favorable health outcomes but also to various serious health conditions, such as liver diseases (notably cirrhosis), pancreatic issues, high blood pressure, and cellular oxidation. These side effects are directly related to just one natural substance in wine: alcohol!
Alcohol, as we know, creates dependency, has harmful effects on human health, and is a caloric element (1 gram of alcohol provides 7 kcal compared to 4 kcal from carbohydrates and proteins). It is not suitable for those following a low-calorie diet, in conditions of poor health, pregnancy, or for anyone who simply avoids or limits alcohol consumption to improve their lifestyle.
That is, we normally vinify a wine and then subject it to a process that is able to separate the alcohol from the wine itself.
The alcohol extraction process is purely mechanical and does not involve the use of any chemicals.
In order to obtain our products, we do not use a cold distillation method, but rather a new osmotic process that preserves the valuable vegetable water present in the starting wine.
Polyphenols
Grapes are the fruit richest in polyphenols, which provide significant health benefits for humans.
Wine, consequently, is a drink rich in polyphenols, including both flavonoid and non-flavonoid types. Anthocyanin flavonoids are known for their antipyretic and anti-aging properties and are often recommended for liver disorders, infections, colds, and high blood pressure. With their free radical-fighting action, they help prevent DNA damage and certain cancers.
Another highly beneficial compound is resveratrol, a non-flavonoid polyphenol.
Resveratrol is a "phytoalexin" polyphenol with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, beneficial for combating cholesterol buildup in the blood and supporting the cardiovascular system.
Resveratrol is also well-known for its anti-cancer properties, as it inhibits the pro-inflammatory protein interleukin-6 (IL-6), whose high levels in the body are linked to lower survival rates in breast cancer patients.
Alcohol is the number one enemy for every woman, especially during pregnancy—a sensitive time when consumption is highly discouraged. Its caloric content, consisting of empty calories, serves no purpose other than to increase daily caloric intake without providing nutrition. Additionally, it can induce water retention, particularly in the legs.
Alcohol promotes the buildup of fat on vessel walls, making them rigid and less toned.
This leads to the release of stress hormones, which further obstruct blood vessel circulation.
As a result, the vessel muscles contract excessively.
The loss of tone in the vessel walls prevents blood from being effectively pumped, causing it to pool inside them. This encourages fluid leakage from the vessels into surrounding cellular spaces, leading to water retention, and promoting cellulite and swelling, especially in the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen.
The antioxidants in wine and the complete absence of alcohol in our beverages can help alleviate this condition.
